Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • mixing bowl
  • hand mixer
  • spatula

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour baked and cooled
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup light brown sugar packed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk dairy or non-dairy
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix-ins

  • cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the flour on a baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes, stirring halfway through.
  • Let the flour cool completely before using.

Mixing

  • In a medium bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy—about 2 minutes.
  • Mix in the milk and vanilla extract until fully combined and the mixture is smooth.
  • Add the cooled, heat-treated flour and salt to the butter mixture. Mix on low speed until just incorporated.
  • Fold in the mini chocolate chips with a spatula.

Serving

  • Serve immediately, or chill for 15-30 minutes for firmer, scoopable dough.

Notes

This cookie dough is safe to eat because the flour is heat-treated to kill any bacteria. Enjoy it straight from the bowl or use it as a topping for ice cream.
